Debutant director Ashwani Dheer, better
known as the creative genius behind the successful
sitcom Office Office, goes awry when it comes to depicting
comedy on the big screen. No-brainer comedies with
a motley cast have almost always hit bull’s
eye at the box office, but this one does not even
qualify as a mediocre bone tickler because of its
wafer-thin, unimaginative plot.
Based on the premise of mistaken identity,
the screenplay, if you can call it one, revolves around
three different characters from different walks of
life who share the same name, Lakshmi Narayan. One
is a wannabe don (Tusshar Kapoor), the second is a
conscientious manager (Sunil Shetty) and the third
is a lingerie merchandiser (Paresh Rawal).
Diamonds worth rupees 10 crores are
stolen from a Don (Manoj Pahwa) and thinking that
it’s his rival don Papa (Mukesh Tiwari) who’s
the culprit, don number one sends Lakshmi Narayan
one (Tusshar Kapoor) on his first ever mission to
bump Papa off. Lakshmi Narayan two (Sunil Shetty)
comes into the picture when his boss sends him to
the same hotel to strike a car deal with Laila (Sameera
Reddy) who owns a vintage car showroom. Lakshmi Narayan
three (Paresh Rawal) who is a lingerie expert also
lands up there to meet a budding new lingerie designer
Jia (Esha Deol). To compound the confusion it is Chandu
(Upen Patel) and Chandni (Tanisha) who have the diamonds
in their possession. The stage is set for utter chaos,
as they all end up meeting the unintended person.
To begin with nothing works in the film.
The situations are clichéd and the dialogues
rely heavily on sleazy one liners and sexual innuendoes
to produce the guffaws. Of the cast, even an otherwise
efficient actor like Paresh Rawal whose comic timing
is perfect fails to lift the proceedings. Sunil Shetty
is surprisingly irritating with his repetitive dialogues
and the less said about Tusshar Kapoor & Upen
Patel, the better. The girls in the film are wallflowers
to say the least and Esha Deol needs a serious wardrobe
and appearance makeover. The film is as inane as its
title and it is sinful on the director’s part
to pass this off as a comedy!
Stay away from this one if you don’t
want to develop a severe headache. The E Now Weekend
rating for this film is one star!
